Star Trek Series Lives

Star Trek and it's vision and fans helped push the computer age onto us all. Starting with the Series's vision of computers, Computer Geeks and Gurus alike brought Star Trek to the computer with early computer games, and ideas as well as pushing the GUI (Graphical User Interface) into the future with Next Generation ideas...

Now as it seems that the franchize is winding down after it's original vision was perhaps warped (forgive the pun) and milked into too many versions of the same old thing, a team of trekers has organized and started producing quality episodes of the original series 40 years after the first.

The cast is different but the show is true to the original series in characters and the universe. It seems that the stories are a bit of a strech for the producers but I admire the work and already see improvement to the shooting, lighting, editing and continuity after on the second episode.

The effects are all CGI and are far better than the original series could ever dream of while the sets, props and customes are equivelent for the most part and true to the point where some components are loaned lovingly from collectors of the original production. This series is truely a labor of love with volunteers and international supporters donating money, time and anything else that would contribute to the making of the show.

The shows are free to see and duplicate from the http://www.StarTrekNewVoyages.com web site. I invite you to see what non professionals can do with equipment available for consumers and see a fantastic future for every home producer.
